In September of 2007, four members of the SCPD 6th Pct. formed the “Sixth Pct Cops Who Care” organization. Those members are Mike O’Neill, Glenn Tarquinio, Mike Williams and Sal Dabbraccio. The idea behind the endeavor was that while we or any other Police Officer encountered an individual, family, group or organization who was in need of financial assistance or outstanding recognition during the course of our patrol duties, we would collectively decide if we should select that entity and assist them in raising funds as well as awareness to their cause. To guarantee our success, we enlisted the help of the many commercial establishments and business people who live and work in our own backyard. We further established ourselves as a 501 C3 Charitable Organization to make our causes more attractable to those that we invited to be a part of our fundraising efforts. These people, having achieved success in their own chosen fields, were more than willing to give back to their communities by joining forces with us to make our events successful ones. We hold our signature Cops Who Care Charity Golf Outing and a Charity Comedy Show, both with designated beneficiaries from those events. Within the last few years, our ranks were strengthened by the unparalleled talents of Linda Hanlon, a local freelance Graphic Designer who  joined us as our Creative Consultant. Our success has been overwhelming. We have established corporate partnerships not only with local business and their principals, but from corporations such as Sony, Panasonic, Master Card and PC Richard. Our events have been attended by District Attorneys, local politicians, clergy, Chiefs of Staff at local hospitals and Presidents and CEO’s of major Long Island corporations. We have established ourselves, this organization and the Suffolk County Police Department as a positive force in helping those in need throughout the communities that we serve. At our last Golf Outing, we established the Sixth Pct Cops Who Care Community Scholarship Award, which is awarded students from the 8 high schools within our precinct that encompasses the attributes of “Paying Forward” in his/her community. To date, the Sixth Pct Cops Who Care Organization has raised over $150,000.00 for the following groups & institutions:
